Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began swimming training at around age three in Parabiago, Italy.
Why this sport?
His mother encouraged him to start swimming. "I remember that I didn't like it at all - it was definitely not love on the first swim, or the second. It stayed that way until I was about 13, I was practically carried to the pool by my mother. I much preferred football and pursued it alongside swimming until about 14 years old. At a certain point we had to make a choice, but it was not at all difficult, my mother decided again and swimming won over football. Initially I struggled to digest it, but slowly I saw that in the water I was able to express myself well. And now, in hindsight, I thank her."

Sporting philosophy / motto
"I'm a worker, but not a performer. I don't question the training sessions, but I want to understand the goal, the path to take. This is partly due to my nature and partly because I want to be aware of what I am doing and where I am going." (nuoto.com, 16 Nov 2021)
Other information
NEW COACH
In March 2021 he parted ways with coach Gianni Leoni and began working under Marco Pedoja. "I get along very well with him, he is practically my brother's age and this helps us a lot in the relationship. My age is closer to him than the guys I train with. We have built an excellent relationship, both inside and outside the pool - very professional during training, and very relaxed and informal outside. We have an excellent dialogue, perhaps thanks to the fact that we are not kids, but that we are basically adults and almost the same age. Personally I believe that the job of the coach requires great flexibility and age is helpful in this." (nuoto.com, 16 Nov 2021)

FURTHER EDUCATION
He has also studied business management and green economy. (nuoto.com, 16 Nov 2021)
