Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
She began swimming at age six in Kaliningrad, Russian Federation.
Why this sport?
"My mother enrolled me in a sports club as I had pulmonary [lung] problems in childhood, and there is no better way to develop and train lungs than in the water. At first I was taken to a synchronised swimming group where I trained for five years. But by chance I was asked to go to a swimming competition in Lithuania because one girl was missing for the relay team. I then took five gold and silver medals and realised that I would never return to synchronised swimming."
