SANCTION
In 2019 he was suspended for three months from 19 April to 18 July after testing positive for the banned substance tetrahydrocannabinols, the main active ingredient in cannabis, at the national championships in Riccione, Italy. His period of ineligibility ended in time for him to return to compete in the 50m freestyle event at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.
