Why this sport?
"My brother was in a higher swim lesson group than me and I liked their name better. As for open water swimming, I used to spend the summer at my grandparents place a lot and I spent a lot of time in the water. I did a pier-to-pier race aged 11 and instantly fell in love with ocean racing."

Other information
She previously represented the United States of America at international level, but transferred her allegiance to Israel in November 2017 with a view to representing her new nation in both pool [1500m] and open water [10km] events at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She previously considered switching allegiances after missing out on qualification for the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016, but put any decision on hold due to her university studies. She became eligible to represent Israel in November 2018. "I'd never visited Israel before so I decided to come in September [2017] to test the waters before making my decision. An Israeli open water swimmer named Shahar Resman, who trained with me in New Hampshire, told me about the set up which helped my decision."
