Other information
HUNGARY AMBITION
In 2016 he decided to end his international career with Italy citing a loss of enthusiasm for the team and instead make himself available to Hungary, the country of his birth. He aimed to make the switch for the 2017 World Championships held in the Hungarian capital Budapest, but the International Swimming Federation [FINA] rejected his request to change nationality because he had not lived in Hungary for the required year. "When I was a child, I used to play for Ujpest and I was training at Isla Margarita, on the Danube, in Budapest. I looked forward to playing for the great Hungary. For a water polo player to wear the cap of that team is like for a footballer to wear the shirt of Brazil." (lastampa.it, 05 Feb 2017; alfahir.hu, 01 Jul 2017)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
He has volunteered with organisations that help families dealing with impairments, including Aiutiamo Giorgia [Let's help Giorgia] and Voa Voa Onlus. He has also worked as an ambassador for the Laureus Foundation to help children in Naples, Italy, to get into sports. "I knew I wanted to do something for the others, mainly children. I did not have an easy childhood, my parents' divorce was painful. But, in the end, if you are able to channel the pain, you become stronger and understand other people's struggles."
