His father Mario Brguljan is a former water polo player who worked as a referee and official after his playing career finished. His younger brother Matija represented Montenegro in the sport at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan. His cousins Drasko Brguljan and Ugljesa Brguljan have also competed in the sport at international level, with Drasko representing Montenegro at four consecutive Olympic Games between 2008 and 2021.
