He was expelled from school because of bad behaviour, but was given the chance to return on the condition that he took up a sport to help him settle down and improve his behaviour, so he started diving.

SYNCHRONISED PARTNER
In 2017 he began competing in synchronised 3m springboard alongside Juan Celaya. Celaya has spent time training at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the United States of America. "Before the [2019] world championships, World Series and Pan American Games, I went to Louisiana for three weeks to do a training camp there, and before that he came to Mexico City to train at the National High Performance Centre [CNAR]. We manage to make it work. Our technique is similar and we don't need to spend too much time synchronising. We just count, 'One, two, three', and each one of us is focused. We have a similar technique due to our first coaches who gave us a good training basis. I am very happy because he is a good person and a great athlete."
