Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
Her parents signed her up for swimming lessons at a young age. At age six she was inspired to take up open water swimming when she was invited to attend a competition in Torremolinos, Spain.
Why this sport?
She was forced to choose between pool and open water swimming once the competitions in both disciplines began to overlap. "I chose open water swimming because I had more fun. It is a different sport in which there are many things that are beyond my control, such as water temperature, animals and being hit. All that uncertainty made me decide for open water."
