HIATUS In November 2020 she announced that she was taking a break from swimming and would not compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "It's hard to put it exactly so that everyone understands, especially the outsiders who don't know what I've been going through. Maybe it's best to put it this way, I need time. I would stress, I am not stopping swimming, I just have to take care of myself, my body, and my soul. I am young, I can be a champion again, I can achieve great results. I didn't give up on my dreams, I just really want to get myself together so I can train and compete in a way that is worthy of my previous results." (insidethegames.biz, 05 Dec 2020; fradi.hu, 30 Nov 2020)
EATING DISORDER During her career she has struggled with bulimia, which began at an early age. "When I was young I only listened to those who told me that I was fat and what I needed to change about my body. When I was two, I had to take a course of antibiotics for an ear infection for quite some time. This affected not only my digestion but also my hormone balance. That's when I started gaining weight quickly. To help me lose weight, my parents enrolled me in ballet and rhythmic gymnastics. This was not exactly the ideal solution, because in these sports the demands on the girls are not normal. My teammates and coaches said I didn't fit in. By the age of eight, I had the idea that my weight was related to how much I was accepted into a group. I have to remind myself that someone's reaction, comment, or thought about me shouldn't affect me. I have learned that my health is the most important thing and I feel good about myself."
