The first time he swam under two minutes in the 200m freestyle. "I can still remember the feeling when I touched the pad. I later bought photographs of myself celebrating and that was a really nice moment that I remember fondly. I still look at those photographs. When and where did you begin this sport? |
He began swimming at age 10 after going on holiday with family friends, whose daughter was in a swimming club. He lost his swimming goggles before his first competition and had to borrow 'granny goggles' from a friend. "A friend's mother sometimes went swimming and was able to lend me her goggles. They were old, like granny goggles. But she saved me, even if I jumped into the pool and they immediately filled with water. Those goggles allowed me to swim in my first competition." |
