Sport Specific Information
Why this sport?
She practised both swimming and artistic swimming growing up. She had to abandon artistic swimming due to a shoulder problem. "My mother brought me to swimming, she taught children how to swim. Then I did gymnastics for about four years. But I didn't like it and I went back to the pool. Not for swimming, but for artistic swimming. When I was in eighth grade, there was a turning point and I had to choose. At junior level, I already covered both sports a lot, and I had problems with my shoulder. So then I chose swimming because I was always more into speed sports than grace."

RIO DISAPPOINTMENT
She made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, having missed out on a place on the Czech team for Rio 2016 despite meeting the qualifying standard. "I wanted to quit swimming after the 2016 Olympic Games. I had met the A standard, but I did not go. I was the third in the list, and a country could only be represented by two swimmers in one discipline. I was unlucky, sad, and disappointed. The feeling that when you reached your goal, you qualified, but couldn't go, it was something you hope never happens to you as a top athlete. It was a difficult time for me, I was disappointed for a long time and had to look for new motivation. It took me almost a year before I started to like swimming again."
