Sporting philosophy / motto |
"People have always put such a big emphasis on body types being a major factor in the success of athletes. I've come to realise that it's much less about the body than we think - it's more about mental strength." (usaswimming.org, 06 Aug 2018) |

RETIREMENT THOUGHTS After graduating from the University of Arizona in 2018, he had doubts about continuing his swimming career. "I kind of had a few doubts going into this summer [2018]. Should I keep swimming? Some of my friends were retiring and all that. I was faced with the same decision as every other swimmer graduating. I was kind of taking a leap of faith. I had to decide if I should join the workforce and give up my Olympic dreams or continue swimming and risk missing out on immediate job opportunities. Soon I realised that whichever I chose, I needed to commit fully. So, I took the chance on my swimming." (a3performance.com, 24 Aug 2018; Swimming World YouTube channel, 25 Jul 2018)
