Sporting philosophy / motto
"People have always put such a big emphasis on body types being a major factor in the success of athletes. I've come to realise that it's much less about the body than we think - it's more about mental strength." (usaswimming.org, 06 Aug 2018)

RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
After graduating from the University of Arizona in 2018, he had doubts about continuing his swimming career. "I kind of had a few doubts going into this summer [2018]. Should I keep swimming? Some of my friends were retiring and all that. I was faced with the same decision as every other swimmer graduating. I was kind of taking a leap of faith. I had to decide if I should join the workforce and give up my Olympic dreams or continue swimming and risk missing out on immediate job opportunities. Soon I realised that whichever I chose, I needed to commit fully. So, I took the chance on my swimming." (a3performance.com, 24 Aug 2018; Swimming World YouTube channel, 25 Jul 2018)
