COUNTDOWN SWIM In August 2020 he completed a 56-kilometre swim in the Issyk-Kul lake in Kyrgyzstan to coincide with the year countdown to the men's 10km race at the rescheduled 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. His swim, which overtook the previous record distance on the lake by 20km, was also designed to show support for health workers helping people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. "I'm very happy that my efforts paid off and I achieved this. With this achievement, I would like to support all those who remain on the front lines of the fight against coronavirus. On behalf of myself and the entire team, we would like to thank all people who are working to save lives and keep communities safe during this pandemic." (insidethegames.biz, 08 Aug 2020) |
