She started swimming at age seven but her father, who was a teacher, realised her physique was more suitable for diving and got her to switch sports. "My father put me into diving after reading an article about it. [Malaysian diver] Pandelela Rinong was a rising star at the time. I fell in love with the sport when I won my first medal at age nine at the 2008 Malaysian Games [SUKMA] in Terengganu."
