TOUGH TRANSITION In October 2021 she spoke about finding the transition from promising junior swimmer to senior competitor a difficult journey. "I had some tough years as the transition from junior to senior level is extremely challenging. I had ups and downs, I wanted things too badly and had to learn some lesson. I got some big help from a Hungarian coach Arpad Petrov, his support was invaluable to be able to find the right perspective. Now I'm swimming for the joy and stopped putting pressure on myself. I'm happy where I am now, and I try to go step by step but without any huge expectations." (fina.org, 07 Oct 2021)
FROM UKRAINE TO TURKEY Born in Ukraine, she initially competed for her country of birth at international level, including at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. In March 2014 she and her family moved to Istanbul, Turkey. As part of the move she changed her name and switched nationality to compete for Turkey. "It was not easy to make the decision to come to Turkey, but it is good to be in Turkey. I feel like a more peaceful, happy and valuable person in Turkey." (np.pl.ua, 16 Apr 2021; onedio.com, 01 Aug 2016; swimvortex.com, 31 Mar 2015; sportclub-isd.com, 10 Dec 2014)
OTHER STUDIES She has studied international relations at MEF University in Maslak, Turkey. (Facebook profile, 13 Apr 2020; MEF Universitesi Facebook page, 12 Aug 2018) |
