Injuries
In May 2021 she dislocated her sternoclavicular joint [shoulder]. The injury led to thoracic outlet syndrome, which caused damage to the nerves and vessels that lead to her left arm. She had cardiothoracic surgery in August 2021. (Instagram profile, 22 Aug 2021)

RETIREMENT
She was forced to retire from competitive swimming in August 2021 after undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. "I always wanted to end my career still loving the sport, and I can truly say I still love swimming with my whole heart, but I am just not able to keep sacrificing my physical and mental health in order to be at an elite level."
