FUTURE PLANS
In 2020 she said that after 2021, she would be retiring from swimming to begin working as a teacher. "I am really excited to start my career as a teacher, so [swimming] will definitely be over after 2021. I know what I want to do when I am done swimming and my goals outside of the pool are there. I can close one chapter and start a new one." (swimmingworldmagazine.com, 06 Jun 2020)

SISTER ACT
She is the oldest of four sisters who have all competed in swimming and all represented the University of Michigan. Her siblings Catie, Gabby and Jackie followed her into the pool after she began swimming at age six. "I am the oldest of the four girls, and I have paved the way for all of my sisters. Yes, I do feel as though I am the leader of the four, but it's never a bother. It's what older siblings do. We all help each other and get along very well." OPEN WATER TRAINING
She and her sisters Catie and Gabby spent time training in the Pacific Ocean in 2020 as part of their programme with Team Elite in San Diego, CA, United States of America. "The first few times I was definitely a little freaked out about it. I don't like that you can't see in the water. It is definitely different. You have to deal with waves and make sure you are going straight. You have to watch out for the surfers and the wildlife. That was the biggest adjustment. One time we saw a seal dive up and down past us. When you start, you have to do the stingray shuffle in the sand so you don't step on one. At one of the beaches, I felt a stingray swim over my feet. It was slimy. We did one in the fall and being able to see the stingrays swim under us. It is not like fresh water, you just never know what is going to be there."
