POOL FOCUS FOR TOKYO
At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, she missed out on qualification for the open water 10km event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. To keep alive her Olympic ambitions she decided to concentrate on the 1500m and 800m events in the pool. "I was close to representing Brazil in open water at the Olympics [in Tokyo]. As a result I have decided to re-focus and see what I need to adjust to qualify for Brazil in pool swimming. They are two completely different sports, in the pool everything is more under control. The physical training inside and outside the water are also very different for the pool." (uol.com.br, 11 Aug 2019)

Why this sport?
"My older brothers swam at Gremio Nautico Uniao, so I went with my mum to watch them train. While they were training, I was playing in the pool. And it was a struggle to take me out of the pool, because I wanted to keep playing. One day I said to my parents that I wanted to train too, to do the same as my brothers."
