Why this sport?
She originally competed in multiple sports, including football, basketball and softball, but wanted to switch to a low impact sport due to a shin complaint. "I was being stubborn because my dad was pushing me so hard to try it [water polo] because he played it, and I just refused because I wanted to be different. I needed a low impact sport and my parents suggested water polo. I had a rough start in eighth grade, trying to build my swimming endurance and getting used to the physicality of water polo."
