KEEPING FIT DURING LOCKDOWN During the COVID-19 lockdown in Namibia in early 2020 he was able to continue training by swimming in a dam on his family's farm, the Omburu-Sud Farm, located in Omaruru, Namibia. He was initially concerned about snakes in the dam but after a few sessions he accepted the risk. "If you have a fear of sharks, you will never swim in the ocean again." (namibiansun.com, 28 Apr 2020)
SCHOLARSHIP He was one of 36 swimmers from across the world to receive a FINA Scholarship in 2017, which was designed to help the athletes to qualify and participate at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. The scholarship also presented the athletes with the option to train at FINA-approved training centres in Thailand, the United States of America, and Senegal. (fina.org, 01 Mar 2017) |
