Other information
MOVE TO BRAZIL
After the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo he decided to relocate to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to train with coach Fernando Possenti, after his previous coach Fred Vergnoux announced his decision to leave the High Performance Centre [CAR] in Sant Cugat, Spain. "My body asked for a change and a new environment. Even if there are very good coaches in Spain, I did not see any working plan adapted for me." He considered following Vergnoux to France or staying at the CAR, but opted for Possenti in Brazil. "[Spanish open water swimming technical director] Ricardo Barreda put me in touch with him and we had a meeting. I had a very good time, he explained to me how he works and I ended with a smile on my face, convinced to go there." (mundodeportivo.com, 17 Oct 2021)

PREPARATION
In 2020 he spoke about the keys to success in long-distance races. "For long-duration events you need a large carbohydrate intake three to four days before the race and above all be very well hydrated. Visualisation work is extremely important in an open water event where there are numerous uncertainties and you have to be prepared to overcome them as quickly and efficiently as possible. And, of course, in the weeks of maximum training you have to train a higher volume, an average of 18-20 kilometres a day.” (swimswam.com, 16 Jul 2020)
