EPILEPSY
She was diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy at age 14. She had to be resuscitated after having her first seizure at the bottom of a pool, and doctors and her mother wanted her to stop swimming. "When I got told [that she had had a seizure] I didn't really understand. I didn't know what it was and it was hard for me because I thought, 'Oh gosh, can I still swim'. If you love something hard enough and you want it so much you can do anything. I had a lot of electrodes on my head and a big pad on my arm. It didn't stop me one bit. I was in the gym pretty much every day and I was like, 'I don't care if people can see my wires, think I'm different, I just want to train'." (bbc.co.uk, 24 Oct 2018)
