Sport Specific Information
Why this sport?
"My grandfather is Australian, and I loved the water from a really young age. At only two years old, I was swimming with no flotation devices. My family would throw loonies and toonies down into the pool and I would go down to dive and get them. The ones that I could get, I could keep. Swimming is big in Australia, and my grandpa noticed my passion and tried to find me a club. I joined the Perth Stingrays [Ontario, Canada], which is a town over. And I stuck with it from when I was [age] five to now."

Other information
GOLF BUDDY
She has known Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson since they both attended elementary school in Smiths Falls, ON, Canada. "We've always been very driven people, and I think that maybe is what drew us to each other. I mean, we were so young when we became friends. We were only three years old. But I think that's something we both valued in each other, and maybe it's why we have stayed such close friends the whole way. At the same time, Brooke and I, we never really spoke about sports. Our friendship was never about being athletes. We just enjoyed each other's company and we made each other laugh all the time." (nationalpost.com, 25 Jul 2021)

COLLEGE TRANSFER
She began studying marketing at the University of Denver in the United States of America but in 2018 she transferred to Indiana University Bloomington to complete a degree in international and global studies. "A big part of my decision to transfer to IU was to pursue an Olympic dream. Denver, as a programme, built me. I was not fast enough to be recruited by Indiana out of high school, so my first three years, with the help at the University of Denver, I was able to get to a place in my athletic career where I could be at Indiana and have a place on that team. I owe a lot of thanks to my former programme." (swimmingworldmagazine.com, 08 Jul 2021; denverpioneers.com, 01 Jan 2018; LinkedIn profile, 01 Jan 2020)
