She liked the combination of swimming, dancing, and gymnastics in the sport and was inspired by watching artistic swimming at the Olympic Games. FLYER
She specialises as a flyer. "I've trained a lot of diving, trampoline. I've been a flyer my entire life. I couldn't push like Andy [fellow Canadian artistic swimmer Andree-Anne Cote], she's got really strong legs. It's really specific. We all have a certain place in the highlights and we all have a certain job to do to make it really good." (thestar.com, 07 Aug 2021)

SPORT NAME CHANGE
She believes there is more respect for her sport since the International Swimming Federation [FINA] changed the official name from synchronised swimming to artistic swimming, putting it on a par with artistic gymnastics. "A lot of people compare it to a sprint, doing a running sprint on track but like holding your breath while you do it, so that's why I think it's really hard because it builds up the lactic acid in your body. But you have to keep going and you have to smile while you do it. People that don't know the sport don't know everything that's going on under the water, as well. That's what makes it a really complicated and hard sport." (latimes.com, 07 Aug 2021; thestar.com, 07 Aug 2021)
