She was advised to take up the sport because she had a hip problem. Once she began swimming she was spotted by a coach of Real Club Nautico Motril in Spain, who encouraged her to join the club. |

Awards and honours |
In 2022 she received the Bronze Medal for Distinguished Services from the Spanish Swimming Federation in recognition of her performances in 2017 and 2018. The medal was initially awarded to her in 2019 but she only received it in 2022. (cope.es, 03 Feb 2022)
