SWIM SIBLINGS
She is the youngest of four siblings who have all competed in swimming. Her older brother Caeleb has won seven Olympic gold medals, including five at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "I'm always going to be proud of Caeleb no matter what. Obviously world records are a big deal, but I'm going to love him no matter what. As my big brother and my teammate, a world record isn't going to change how I look at him or how anybody looks at him. I've always loved being on the same team as Caeleb, being able to train with him, because he is such a hard worker and it shows up in his races. You can just tell he's having fun and enjoying the moment." She says that she considered avoiding studying at the University of Florida in order to limit comparisons to Caeleb, who also attended the university. "While UF was ultimately the right school for me and I have no regrets about choosing to go here, I did have some concerns about being compared to Caeleb. I have been compared to him a lot throughout my swimming career, and I don't take offence to it at all; I just wanted to make my own mark and be my own person. I struggled with comparing myself to my siblings and feeling like I was never as good as them. I would advise younger athletes to be proud of their siblings' successes but never doubt their own potential."
