INTERNATIONAL RETIREMENT
He retired from international competition after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, which was his fourth Olympic participation. "The difference is big when you make your debut at the Games and when you put an end to it. You go to the first one with great excitement, and calmly to the fourth one, because you saw and experienced everything. Now I have certainly a different way of thinking than in 2008. I am glad to say goodbye to my generation with whom I competed at so many competitions and won so many medals. With a generation I have really fond memories of."
