INTERNATIONAL RETIREMENT In October 2021 he announced his retirement from international competition. He originally planned to retire from the national team in 2020, however, he decided to prolong his international career due to the one-year postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "In our sport, like in many others, you think by Olympic cycles. I said many times that I would like to finish my career with the end of that cycle, and this was supposed to be after the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020. However, with the Olympic Games in Tokyo rescheduled to 2021 I said that I am ready for this." (swimmingworldmagazine.com, 21 Oct 2021; hvs.hr, 20 Nov 2020) |
