Her parents encouraged her to start swimming to improve her fitness. She was then spotted by an artistic swimming coach. "I was not very strong when I was young, that was why my mother took me to swim. Around 1997 Macau planned on forming a synchronised swimming team. I can dance and swim so the coach selected me." |

RETIREMENT She retired after the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, and began pursuing a PhD in education at the University of Saint Joseph in Macau, alongside a research job at the university. She initially declined an offer to go into coaching artistic swimming. "For me, retirement means another chapter in my life. Maybe I will consider coaching again in the future."
