RETIREMENT She retired in November 2015 after competing at the Pro Swim Series in Minneapolis, MN, United States of America. "I will be moving to Lausanne, Switzerland, to attend graduate school for a master's of advanced studies in sport administration and technology [AISTS] in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee [IOC]. My life has been an amazing journey and I couldn't have asked for much more. I am happy with what I have accomplished and the opportunity I have been granted through swimming to touch others' lives through my faith and swimming experiences." (usaswimming.org, 05 Nov 2015)
RACE TRAGEDY In October 2010 she participated in a 10km event in the United Arab Emirates in which US swimmer Fran Crippen died. Jennings herself had to be taken to hospital after she began to vomit and hyperventilate during the race as water temperatures were estimated to have risen above 30 degrees Celsius. "About six kilometres into the race my head started hurting. At eight kilometres I was going downhill really fast. I started to veer off course and I had no sense of direction. It just got to the point I was literally scared for my life." (swimmingworldtv, 09 Nov 2010; philly.com, 27 Oct 2010; abcnews.go.com, 26 Oct 2010) |
