RETIREMENT
In April 2019 she announced her retirement from competitive swimming. "After 12 years of dedicating my mind, body and soul to the pursuit of excellence I can proudly announce that my competitive swimming journey has come to an end. The positive impact swimming has had on my life is overwhelming which is why I will still be passionately involved with giving back to the sport that gave me so much. Life is too short to waste any days not challenging yourself. Sometimes that means letting go of something that once was the spark of your purpose but as you grow as a person I have learnt that the spark shifts and you owe it to yourself to continue chasing what makes you feel most alive." TUMOUR REMOVAL
In May 2015 she had a benign tumour removed from her breast. The surgery and after effects meant that she withdrew from selection consideration for the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russian Federation. "I won't lie, the breast cancer scare is still a bit surreal for me. When I was going through it, it was all in the moment. And being so young, I almost didn't really know how to process it because I was just like, 'Oh this is bizarre'.” You don't ever believe something like that can happen to you.
