She suffered a shoulder injury during the final of the 2014 European Championships and was sidelined until January 2015. She underwent surgery in May 2015 when she discovered the injury involved a fractured bone, a tear and an ulcer. She could not return to training until September 2015 and had discomfort for almost a year. In September 2016 she announced her retirement from competitive water polo. "There comes a day when you have to take one of the most difficult decisions of your life, and that day for me has arrived.
