She used to practise ballet and swimming before her father encouraged her to try the sport. "My father told me about it [artistic swimming]. I didn't know what it was but it was close to home so I decided to give it a try. I lived in Joao Pessoa and there I began. A year later I moved to Rio de Janeiro and began training at Fluminense, where I had my first competitions and where I realised I wanted to do it professionally." |

"I was in a complicated stage. The girls and all the technical staff helped me so much. I thought I had lost all interest in artistic swimming and other things, as normally happens when people have depression. But I discovered that many people were beside me."
