MULTI-SPORTS ATHLETE
He played multiple sports when he was in high school and chose to focus on swimming for college scholarships. "Growing up I played a number of sports. [American] football, baseball, basketball, swimming, soccer and golf. Up until my sophomore year in high school swimming was actually my third or fourth sport on the totem pole. My favourite was actually [American] football and I played for the Naperville Patriots for many years. We were third in the nation when I was in seventh grade. I chose to focus on swimming because I felt it gave me the best opportunity for a college scholarship. I also just loved to race and you just can't get that in any of the other sports."
